[14.11] Yoon's Jungle Book - Ahri

By yoonfish
Introduction

Hello, I am Yoon! I'm far from a professional League player, but I am extremely motivated by FUN and spend a great deal of my free time smashing together characters with the jungle role. I've decided to start Yoon's Jungle Book in an effort to create and update guides for as many characters, meta or not, in the Jungle as I can. I'm always open to suggestions and commentary from fellow jungle mains (or anyone who mains the characters I make guides on) and have no issue incorporating new information and builds!

It should be noted that I never bring my Off-Meta builds into ranked and do not recommend you do it, either. That is, unless you're 100x better than me ;)

Please feel free to recommend other champions to add to my Jungle Book!
Ahri Jungle
Abilities

Ahri, the Nine-Tailed Fox
Ranged, Mage, Moderate Difficulty, Mana, Hypermobile, Mid-Laner
Clearing: Unhealthy, Average Speed
Ganking: Has CC, Hyper-Mobile
Speciality: Burst Damage, Flexible
Why Ahri Jungle? Obviously Ahri has a really difficult early game but it is very easy to cheese an early kill on level two or three. She is more than capable of keeping up in CS with an average jungler but struggles against hyper-farming champs like Yi. However, people will always be dumb and you will always find kills wherever you go even if you are losing. And if you don't, Ahri makes a great supportive champion and can still use her CC to help others.
Clearing with Ahri
Note: It is possible to solo clear by starting on Red Side and using your Smite on both buffs. Make sure to kite.

To clear with Ahri, it's vital to understand what she can and cannot do. Of course you'll want to take into account that Fleet Footwork will make your clear much, much healthier. But it is possible to full clear without backing on your first attempt. It will be slower than your opponent, but it is doable if you start red side (for the aoe camps and passive buff), properly kite, and don't get invaded.
Her full clear will be something like this.
Red Buff
Krugs
Raptors
Wolves
Blue Buff
Scuttle
Gromp
Keystone Options

FLEET FOOTWORK
♡¦ Fleet Footwork
Fleet Footwork is necessary for beginners unfamiliar with off-meta jungle clearing, kiting jungle camps, and those who struggle to keep themselves alive when clearing with Ahri to begin with.

ELECTROCUTE
♡¦ Electrocute
Electrocute is the basic Ahri keystone used in Mid. It gives great early damage which is extremely useful if you plan to take fights early on. I have a preference for ganking bot lane with Electrocute, as chain cc is more common there.

GRASP OF THE UNDYING
♡¦ Grasp of the Undying
Grasp of the Undying is used for for tankier Ahri build. It's certainly not the most useful build but it is definitely fun. Nobody expects an Ahri to tank hits that would normally one shot her.
Core Items

Lich Bane

Malignance

Ionian Boots
Lich Bane will almost always be your first full item, however rushing Lost Chapter is always a good idea as well. It can go either way, really, and depends on how your enemy composition looks.
Malignance gives fantastic cooldown reduction (CDR) which is incredibly useful on Ahri normally, and amplified heavily in the jungle.
Ionian Boots of Lucidity serve the same purpose as Malignance.
Abilities Rundown (but in the jungle!)
PASSIVE ABILITY
Essence Theft
Ahri's passive allows her to stack 9 fragments from killing minions or monsters. After 9, she consumes these fragments to heal herself for a set amount of hp which scales off of Ability Power.

Ahri's passive in the jungle has minimal effect, but has noticably saved my life more than a few times when clearing grubs, due to each little grub counting as a seperate monster which can then proc her passive! It is also a big part of why starting on the Red Side is optimal as opposed to Blue.
Q
Orb of Deception
Ahri sends out her orb and pulls it backwards, dealing magic damage on the way out and true damage on the way back.

In the Jungle, Ahri's Q is the main damaging ability for both clearing and ganking. It is great on AOE camps, such as Raptors and Krugs
W
Fox-Fire
Ahri's W grants her a short boost of move speed and summons three orbs that chase nearby enemies and deal magic damage upon landing.

Ahri's W in the Jungle is perhaps her most useful ability, especially in the early game. It is the perfect kiting tool for larger, solo camps such as both buffs and Gromp as well as being a great tool to chase low health enemies during ganks or escape unwanted fights without wasting your ult.
E
Charm
Ahri blows a kiss that damages and charms any enemy it encounters. The target temporarily takes increased damage from Ahri during this charm.

In the Jungle, Charm is her primary ganking tool, but be advised! It's not ideal to go into a gank and instantly throw your only stunning tool at the enemy the moment you see them, it's better to wait for a more optimal moment or chain cc with teammates. The enemy will expect you to instantly stun them!
R
Spirit Rush
Ahri dashes forward and fires essence bolts to the closest enemies. It can be casted up to three times, but extra dashes may be gained from securing kills.

In the Jungle, Ahri uses Spirit Rush in a vareity of ways that aren't too dissimilar from her gameplay in mid. You chase a kill, get in a better position to use other abilities, escape over walls.. the added difference is now you can dash into dragon or baron pit to secure a stolen objective with Smite!
Objectives
DRAGONS
Dragons are extremely dangerous for Ahri to get alone and should not be attempted without teammates alongside you. However it is always important to intervene when bumping into an enemy attempting to take Cloud Drake, especially if it is the enemy jungler attempting to solo it.
Cloud Soul is Ahri's most optimal soul.
VOID GRUBS
Void Grubs cannot typically be solo'd in most situations. It's worth a shot if you have both of your smites up, which can be done when bringing Cosmic Insight, but it can still be risky and runs the risk of interference from an enemy jungler, mid laner, top laner, or all of the above. Pinging for help is always an option, remember that!
RIFT HERALD
Rift Herald is most definitely your easiest objective to secure on Jungle Ahri and I highly recommend doing it the moment you see the enemy jungler botside. Unfortunately I have a bad habit of running the herald straight into the lane walls, so.. do your best not to do that.
BARON NASHOR
Obviously, Baron cannot be solo'd in the slightest and Ahri doesn't do insane amounts of damage to it. However, keeping vision on baron at all times is optimal and I typically like to leave a Control Ward in baron pit.
ELDER DRAGON
Elder Drake is an incredibly vital tool on Jungle Ahri, especially if you are running a 1-shot type of build and are ahead of the curve in terms of items, kills, and cs. One well-timed Elder and you're pretty much guarenteed a win.
Pros and Cons
+ Versatility
Ahri is incredibly versatile and has always acted as a Jack of All Trades in the mid lane. This is really no different as a jungler, at the end of the day. She can be bursty, she can jump in and out of fights, she can gank effectively, and she can be all over the map whenever she pleases.
+ High mobility
A very good Ahri simply cannot be caught. With a seemingly infinite amount of dashes or gap closers, she can quickly pick off one (if not more) of the enemy team and be out before any sort of cc hits her. This is fantastic at all points in the game.
- Squishy
Like most mages, Ahri is incredibly weak to.. any sort of damage, haha. It doesn't take much to kill her after she's been stunned.
- Early-Game
As an Off-Meta Jungle, you'll always want to be prepared for an invade. They will happen and there usually isn't much you can do about it, especially with Ahri. Vision is my only advice, and spam-pinging for help from your teammates.
