Introduction
Hey, I'm FFrostbite and this guide is about my Neeko ! Im a high elo EUW streamer and player, often chilling in mid/high master since I dont play alot of soloq. I've played hundreds of games as Neeko and always perform well!

In this guide I'm gonna show you how to play her to climb easily in SoloQ!

Pro and Con

Pros

Good Waveclear
Strong Pick Potential
Alot of Damage in Teamfights
Outpay Potential
Strong Laning Phase
Huge AoE

Cons

Weak Earlygame
Falls Off Lategame
Short Range
Falls Behind Easily If Ganked
Squishy
Bad If Enemys Have High Mobility
Abilites

Passive - Inherent Glamour
Neeko can disguise herself as an allied champion. Direct damage from champions or casting a damaging spell breaks the diguise.

Q - Blooming Burst
Neeko throws a seed that blooms to deal magic damage. If it kills a unit or hits a champion or large monster, it will bloom again, dealing extra magic damage. Max 2 extra blooms.

W - Shapesplitter
Passive: Every 3rd attack deals bonus magic damage and increases Neeko's movement speed for 1 second.

Active: Neeko becomes invisible for 0.5 seconds and projects a clone that lasts 3 seconds. Neeko and the clone gain movement speed for 2 seconds.

E - Tangle-Barbs
Neeko slings a tangle that deals magic damage and roots. The tangle becomes empowered after hitting an enemy, growing larger, moving faster, and rooting for double the time.

R - Pop Blossom
After 1.25 seconds Neeko leaps into the air. She gains a shield that absorbs damage for each nearby enemy champion. When Neeko lands she deals magic damage and stuns nearby enemies for 1.25 seconds. This ability can be prepared in secret if Neeko is disguised.
Ability Sequence

The most common levelling sequence for Neeko is the one I am using in this guide which follow Q>E>W>R.

Summoners
Flash
You need flash. Thats all :) No discussion

Teleport
Teleport is my standard Summoner at the moment. It helps you get back to your lane after your first back, which is helpful since youre often being pushed in early. Afterwards you can use it to help your team when they get ganked. I really like it because I love to split on the sidelane to build a CS and XP lead and with Teleport I can join fights whenever I want.

Ignite
Ignite is a good offensive summoner spell. Your strength is your power in lane. It provides more kill pressure, which makes it easier for you to snowball. I recommend going it when youre an agressive player who likes to punish the enemy laner.

Barrier
Barrier is a good defensive summoner spell vs assasins. Take it vs champs like Zed, Qiyana or Talon. It helps you survive their burst combo.

Cleanse
Cleanse is a good defensive summoner spell vs heavy CC. I dont really like going it, but it can be useful in lane vs champs like Zoe.
Keystone Rune
Electrocute is the most aggresive choice. Its good in almost all games. Your full combo procs it easily, providing bonus burst to your combo.

Arcane Comet is a good keystone. With Comet you have alot of free damage in lane thanks to it. It has good synergy with your poke. It has more value over Electrocute if you only go for short poke and not full combos, in which Electrocute wouldnt get procced.

Summon Aery is another choice, but I recommend going the other runes. Its good if you perma autoattack the enemy in lane.
Starting Items
To start of the item section, let's dive into the starting items. You always start with Doran's Ring and Health Potion. After that your next major buy next to boots is:

Hextech Alternator
Hextech Alternator is your first item if you choose to go for Hextech Rocketbelt. It provides you bonus burst in lane. The only downturn is that the full item doesnt provide mana, so you have to play a bit more careful with your mana pool. If youre fine with that I recommend going for it.

Lost Chapter
Lost Chapter is your first item if you choose to go for Luden’s Companion. It provides you mana compared to the other item, so its a better choice if you go out of mana often.
General Items

Season 14 brought a huge mage item overhaul. The old mythic items got removed and new items got added. Theres several new ones which can be useful, such as: Luden’s Companion, Stormsurge or Cryptbloom. Some old items also got slightly changed. In this chapter I will talk about some important items.

There are some items which didnt change and which are still insane on Neeko. These are Void Staff, Rabadon's Deathcap and Shadowflame. The only new thing is that Shadowflame now makes your spells crit if the enemy target is below 35%. Your "crit" deals 20% bonus damage. I highly recommend building these items in most games after your core items. These core items are (order matters):

Hextech Rocketbelt
Hextech Rocketbelt is a super useful item on Neeko. It provides AP, Health and Ability Haste. The insane part is the active tho. You dash forward and deal damage in a cone ahead of you. You can use it after casting your R - Pop Blossom to dash forward and catch enemys offguard. This can be super useful. Only downside on the item is that it doesnt provide mana.

Luden’s Companion Luden’s Companion
Luden’s Companion is a new burst item which replaced the old Ludens. It has super good stats. It provides Mana compared to Rocketbelt, which helps if you go out of mana often. You can build Rocketbelt after building it if you want tho.

Stormsurge
Stormsurge is new mage item. It provides AP, Magic Pen and Movement Speed. The passive is also super good. If you deal 35% of a champs health within 3secs you get a movement speed buff and after 2sec you deal bonus damage on the enemy. Against squishy champs that shouldnt be a problem with your full combo. Against tankier enemys it wont work, which is why you shouldnt build it against them. Otherwise it is a super good item and can be built. I recommend building it after Luden’s Companion.

Zhonya's Hourglass
Zhonya's Hourglass is really useful in games with assasins or hard CC. If the enemy team has alot of engage / lockdown I recommend building it 100%. This way it gets way harder to kill you. Its also really useful against assasins like Zed. You can also build it if you engage alot with your R into the enemy team. Just press it after using your ult and the enemy team cant hit you.

After you finish boots, Hextech Rocketbelt and maybe Stormsurge I recommend building the items I mentioned earlier in this chapter ( Shadowflame, Rabadon's Deathcap and Void Staff). I also recommend this order. Other good item choices are:

Liandry's Torment
Liandry's Torment is another super good item. It provides AP and Health, which is good. It's passive provides you a %Health damage DoT + a 2-6% damage increase. Its super easy for you to stack and use, since your spells have low CD. Its useful in almost every game, especially in games vs tanks tho.

Horizon Focus
Horizon Focus is a super good poke mage item. It provides AP and Ability Haste. The bonus effect activates when you hit enemys from far away. It will reveal them + surrounding enemys. The target you hit will also get 10% increased damage from you for 6 seconds.

Cosmic Drive
Cosmic Drive is a good item. It provides AP, Health, Ability Haste and Movement Speed. If you damage an enemy you get bonus movement speed, which can be super useful in teamfights. I recommend going it if the enemy team has a lot of CC and you need to dodge alot of spells.

Banshee's Veil
Banshee's Veil is a good item. It provides AP and MR. The bonus effect is a spell shield. Its super good against a few champs which want to open their burst combo with one spell. Examples are Annie (you would block her stun spell), Evelynn (you block her charm engage) or Karthus (you could block his ult).
Matchups

Neeko is a major lane bully. Generally speaking she doesnt have bad matchups in early lane. Her only major counter his high range, but most poke mages only get their strength in midgame. Just try to be as agressive as you can in all lanes and build an advantage.

Combos
Lane Combo

Tangle-Barbs > Blooming Burst > Autoattack Shapesplitter

Standard Combo in Lane. Try to hit a minion before the enemy laner with Tangle-Barbs so its root duration is increased. If he has no tenacity you will get atleast 2 hits of Blooming Burst and manage to hit 2 Autoattacks.

Full Q Proc

Blooming Burst > Tangle-Barbs > Autoattack Shapesplitter

Try to get the first hit of Blooming Burst and follow up with Tangle-Barbs. Your Q should hit 3 times and you can follow up with Autoattacks inbetween.

Ult Combo 1

Tangle-Barbs > Pop Blossom > Blooming Burst > Autoattack Shapesplitter

After you hit your E, walk up to him for your Ultimate. If he doesnt flash it just follow up with Q while he is stunned. Make sure to autoattack inbetween!

Ult Combo 2

Shapesplitter > Pop Blossom > Tangle-Barbs > Blooming Burst > Autoattack Shapesplitter

Transform into someone and go invsible with W while walking up to the enemy. After your Ultimate stun follow up with your E root and your Q. Autoattack inbetween for your empowered W.

Flash Ult

Shapesplitter > Pop Blossom > Flash

With this Combo the enemy has almost no time to react to your Ultimate. If you transform, go invisible with W, cast ult while being invisible and flash on your target he has less then half a second to react to it.
Wards

Level 1

Ward the enemy raptor camp at 1:20. This way you can track the enemy jungler early and avoid ganks.

In Lane

Ward at the Enemy's river entrance. This way you can see a part of the enemy jungle and a part of the river.

Control Wards

You want to either ward the brush in the river or next to your lane. This way your team can gank you easier.
General Playstyle
IN LANE

Your laning phase is quite strong compared to other mages. Always try to go for poke with Blooming Burst early. Try to push to hit lvl 2 first. If you do, go for the Tangle-Barbs into Blooming Burst Combo.
Continue to harrass your opponent with standard lane Combos and try to always land your empowered Shapesplitter Autoattack on the enemy.

Your W Shapesplitter, which makes you invisible and gives you movement speed might be a good engage tool, but shouldnt be used like it in lane. It has a long cooldown early and is a good escape tool for ganks!

MID GAME

Mid Game is when the first turrets started falling and people move more freely on the map.
This is where u can impact the game the most. Your waveclear with Blooming Burst and Tangle-Barbs is huge, which gaves u alot of time to roam or push turrets with your empowered Shapesplitter Autoattacks.

Due to your passive Inherent Glamour you can catch your enemies off-guard and snowball the game. For example you can transform into your jungler and show on one side of the map, which you know is warded. Enemies will logically think that your jungler is on one side of the map while he can surprise gank the other side.
Another example is if you transform into your support and show up with your ADC while your support takes a step back. If enemy botlane walks up you can root them with Tangle-Barbs and follow up with Pop Blossom.

LATE GAME

Neeko falls off late game compared to other picks because of her short range. At this point of the game you rely on your team to make good engages so you can follow up with your ultimate combos.

You can also try to engage with your Flash Ult Combo. Make sure to focus the squishy carries since your combo will most likely oneshot them.
Choose your engages wisely tho, since they can win but also lose the entire game. Stay in the backline if your team will most likely win the fights, else you can try to be the hero.
Conclusion
Try to win lane and abuse your early strength!

Try to catch people with your Combos!

Stay save in teamfights!

IF you see a good chance go for the Flash Ult Combo!

Be a backbone and major carry in teamfights!
