There isn't a elo hell, just not enough experience and knowledge.

you should play what ever give you most fun and satisfaction, I recommend if you want to improve to stuck to little pool of champions so you will be able to focus more on the macro game (raoming and objectives) and farming. in addition you should watch high elo streamers that explain what they do in the game so you can learn from it, i recommend on Tillterella and SoloRenektonOnly

if you want something else feel free to ask :-)

Well, let me say this. There are two ways to get out of elo hell. One is to play a single hyper-carry champion really really well. Graves is and an amazing power farmer in the jungle and has the damage to carry, so i would say you could pull off a one trick.

The other way is to get good at everything besides mechanics, and play an easy champ to focus on learning to build, play the map, splitpush, and call objectives, If you’re going this route, you’ll want to watch some pro games (I usually just watch worlds). This will help you get into highter elos once you settle down on a lane to play.

So, you can get out of elo hell with Graves, but you’ll hit a point where you’ll have to learn to play more than mechanics. However, most of you’re opponents won’t know what to expect from a Graves, and you’ll be able to steamroll a lot of people with some invades and ambushes.

Stick to simple champions that have easy mechanics, preferably ones that scale very well. Definitely watch youtubers/streamers and pro games too. The three main points to look to improve on are mechanics, decision making, and item building. Do some reading, watch some vids and get practising. You could get some of your friends to spectate your games and suggest what you could have done better.

To piggyback on what orrvaa said, small champion pool for a main and off role, and 1-2 champs in other roles in case of autofill. For example if you're looking to jungle you could keep it to Rammus, Shyvana, and Warwick because they're three pretty straight forward junglers who excel at farming ganking and 1v1 situations. Then if your off role is mid, I'd say Annie and Malzahar, because they're both very easy champions to pick up and play, easy to farm with, and can easily and quickly remove at least 1 enemy from any fight. For every other role, I'd say have 1 person in mind to play and do your best to stick with it if you get autofilled. Top lane Garen, Support Soraka, and ADC Caitlyn for example.

I’s have to disagree with the reccomendation for Caitlyn ADC. She has to be a lane bully, and if you’re in elo hell you’re probs not good enough to do it. I’d reccomend a scaling ADC personally like Jinx or Tristana.

It was an example of a pick. Not a recommendation. Also, it's quite easy to play by maxing traps, keeping a line of traps between you and the enemy, and focusing on farming. So take that as you will.
