League of Legends Reputation

What Is Reputation?

Reputation is how we track the positive contributions everyone makes on the site. Next to every post you make on the site is a +Rep button. If users want to thank you for your efforts they can click this +Rep button to give you a point! Your points accumulate over time, getting you better reputation titles and other rewards!

Reputation Rewards

There are currently two things you gain from increasing your reputation. The first is reputation titles, which appear next to your avatar on posts. You will get better and better titles as your reputation score climbs!

The second reward is promotions! Since reputation is such a good indicator of your long term dedication to the MOBAFire community, we use it to automatically promote users to higher Ranks! You can be promoted to Editor and Veteran by achieving high reputation scores.

Of course there is also the reward of having your score displayed proudly next to your posts. Anyone can get a high post count, but it takes a lot more to get a high reputation score! This gains a lot of respect from other users on the site.

How Do I Increase My Score?

Just hang out and help others! You can post great guides, help people out in the forums, review people's guides, create signatures for people, or just generally be a fun and positive member of the community. People will give you +Rep for all kinds of things, the more you hang out the more you'll gain!

What About Cheating?

We have some rules and restrictions in place to avoid cheating or abusing the reputation system.

We have limits in place on how rapidly you can gain reputation. Each user can only give you 1 reputation point per week, and can't +Rep the same post twice. We also have IP restrictions in place to prevent people from boosting their own reputation unfairly.

There are some rules as well, which are enforced by our moderators. You are not allowed to beg, bribe, blackmail or otherwise attempt to force/coerce others into giving you +Rep. You can mention it in your signature or at the end of your guide or blog article, such as "If I helped you out, don't forget to give me a +Rep!", but anything beyond that is considered abusing the system. Giving people +votes in exchange for rep, threatening to -vote if they don't rep, begging on the forums, offering to exchange +Rep clicks, making up games that involve people giving you +Rep for no meaningful reason, constantly nagging people to +Rep you, etc... These are all against the rules and depending on the length you went to in abusing these rules you may experience any number of punishments ranging from a slap on the wrist, to a reputation reset, to a ban.

I Think Someone Is Cheating

Use the report system to notify the Mods and they will take care of it!

Is it just me or does it feel wrong having more than 20 guides up-to-date, some with really good ratings, but still having just 2 reputation points?
Is this feature underused or do you have to really make super super great content to gain these? Im confused.
My english is not the best tho

That might be because there's no +Rep button on guides, only on comments and forum threads. Usually people give out rep for useful comments. I could look into adding a +Rep button for guides too, if you think that would improve user experience?

Oh thats my bad indeed, that explains a lot. Well, adding it to guides wouldn't hurt, but if im the only person who benefits from it its probably not worth the effort. Thats up to you

Thanks for clarification anyway! :)

I realize i use it more often (maybe wrongly) to reward guide authors than posts (putting +1 when guide is nice and both +1 and +rep if it really helps me).
If not that wrong, what about having a "+rep" button next to the facebook "like" button in the end of guides ? (unless i am blind, currently there is only in comment section you may do it assuming there is any comment yet and anyway looks weird to +rep a "thanks you, glad you like it" comment rather than the full guide)

Seems like a good idea to me ^^ Though I think the voting bar needs to be visible to access from anywhere in the guide too.

If you're active enough in the community you'll get a fair amount of rep - trust me, all my rep comes from being active and not from a good guide, signatures, anything like that, and look how high my rep is! :P
