Tips for Braum top vs support?
So i've picked up Braum and played him a few times and overall i've had far more success building tank and going top lane than playing as a support.
Any tips or tricks that anyone has picked up with braum that might be useful for either position.
I understand most of the basic mechanics, like the leap puts you in between the ally and the nearest enemy (not sure if exploitable vs stealth) can't be used on wards, the shield blocks projectiles and you take reduced damage, also blocks aa's from melee champions but i think only when they target you, not sure. and the ult knock up mechanics, and the leap can be used on yourself which is nice
Is there anything else I or someone else should know?

It sounds like you have a basic mastery of the champion himself, but there are some important things to remember in general...
1. Braum's leap and gap close pair EXTREMELY well with exhaust and ignite opportunities. I've noticed an extremely solid synergy between Braum's mobility and crowd control effects.
2. Braum Support does NOT do damage. When you compare his abilities with, say, Morgana or Leona, Braum feels lackluster. Really, the name of the Braum Support game is the team fight. You don't do damage, you just help other people do MORE damage.
3. Braum requires range. I really enjoy playing Braum alongside a Twitch, Tristana (when, seldom as it is, she's actually played...) or a Caitlin (ESPECIALLY a caitlin). Ranged ADCs have a much better chance of contributing to your passive, which is going to help secure those stuns.
4. Be not afraid of death. For Braum to maximize his team fighting contributions, you need to throw him in the fray as often as possible. Don't take free damage, obviously, but learn to trust your defense stats. This goes hand in hand with...
5. If there's an enemy anywhere near you and "Stand Behind Me" is not on cooldown, you have done something horribly wrong. Braum should be leaping around the field at any given opportunity and gifting his extra Armor and Magic Resist to the ADC at every chance, especially during a dive.
6. Learn the Shield, Love the Shield. Yes, Braum's shield deflects projectiles, but it is so much more than that. Not only does it completely negate the first damage it receives (Jinx Rocket, Ezreal Ult, etc etc) but it resists damage for the duration. Not only can you block shots with the shield, Braum can also force any abilities to hit him and shrug off even the burliest hits.
The most crucial thing that I think people should be aware of that his shield only blocks damage, it doesn't block e.g. Slows, blitz' grabs, etc.
I have seen some Braums trying to shield them and their allies from those and they did not seem aware of that fact. And of course it doesnt reduce damage from towers.
I am not yet sure how to build him, but i think starting with golditem, as well as boots and sightstone as a support work quite well with him. His q scales with health and the only other ability that deals damage (his ult) scales with ap. I dont feel you need to stack ap as a support for your ultimate... It is a lot more about the utility with braum. Wait for the enemy team to engage, use your ult on as many as possible and your team can take them out. Just shield them and take as much damage for them as possible as you are a tank.
That works out quite well, except for when your team gave away too many kills and Dragons and you're so far behind you are about to lose any teamfight. But usually anyone has it hard when that happens.
This is my top lane guide and I have devoted a whole chapter to this question...
i personally have had good success in both top and support but top lane is my favarite position for him
It isn't like you dont get cs, you take targons brace and take a 2 (3 or 4) minions later and your adc gets healed a bit and the gold as well as you. Of course you get more on top lane. But I really don't think we play support braum the same way. I do not sit and wait while blocking. I harass the enemy adc with q, and as soon as he has a stack or two and he has lost enough hp I go in on him so that my adc follows up. As a support you won't win a lot if you are too passive. You cant be too aggressive of course but i havent seen leona stand and wait. And i surely dont see a reason to be afraid of a trade with the enemy botlane.
I m not saying braum top isnt good. Because I bet it is quite good, but I see Braum as a support who can carry his adc. Probably not the whole team, but he can do a lot more as a support especially when your adc needs protection more so than usual adcs.
